I installed FoxyProxy Plus. I am using a proxy server in the UK. Since I'm new to proxy servers I set up FPP to route all urls through the proxy server. I checked my ip address and it showed the UK address.
I then went to the ITV site to see if I could play some of their video content and got the following message:
------
Unauthorized ...
IP Address: 75.72.91.xxx

Auth Result: The account [czaglifa@yahoo.com] has been limited to 5 connections.

75.72.91.xxx is my U.S.A ip address. ITV must be checking my MAC address which is tied to my equipment to see if it matches the incoming UK ip address. Yes guessing here. I'm on a home network. Do I need the MAC address changed to my UK ip address? How is this accomplished?
Hi, Your MAC address is tied
Hi,
Your MAC address is tied to your ethernet card. The ethernet card is a piece of hardware in your computer, and there is no mapping between MAC addresses and geographical locations (unlike IP addresses). So changing your MAC address won't help.
Can you please give me the URL you are trying to play? If the video is playing in Flash, RealVideo, Silverlight, or similar technology, then it might be bypassing the browser's proxy settings -- and, hence, FoxyProxy. You might try this.
Eric
Hi Chrys, Looks like you
Hi Chrys,
Looks like you have problems authorizing to the CCproxy server. Are you sure you ahve correct username/password combination for it?
MAC Address & Local ISP IP Address vs Proxy Server IP Address
I found a Itv link that circumvented the check that I mentioned in my original message and I was able to get into ITV and view videos including live steaming of "Britain's Got Talent" yesterday. However, I am encountering a similar situation with the MAC address with uk.yahoo.com. I tried to establish an account using a different user name and password than my stateside yahoo account and got this error.

The one thing I didn't do before trying to sign up with a UK email account was clear my cache and cookies. Although I suspect that might not help because Yahoo knows my MAC address and they are linking it to my stateside account. Maybe I should tell them I moved to the UK.
Any ideas?
This looks like a problem
This looks like a problem with your username/password for the proxy service. Can you check the username/password again, please? Also, please *do* clear your cache and cookies before setting up a new account. And let go of the MAC address paranoia. It has no relevance :)
