What is an expected speed using a proxy?

What can I expect for speed when using a proxy. Or maybe if I ask it this way: what percentage of reduction can I expect? 25%, 50% slower? Does it make a difference if the proxy is closer to me?

Will I have the same IP for the entire subscription?

If I pay for a proxy, will I have the same IP for the entire time? Can it be changed every month, for example?

Secure web proxy

So if I understand how this works, my connection passes through my ISP and they can record it. Not sure if they do, or if they want to. Don't know.
So having a web proxy doesn't address any of that, correct? And this is the service I would be getting by paying for a proxy, is that right?
While a "secure web proxy" would encrypt my traffic between me and the proxy. This would stop my ISP from knowing what I am doing, correct? Are secure web proxies also available for purchase?

Unless your proxy goes down (which happens quite infrequently) we don't change proxies.

Our proxies support SSL - they don't encrypt your traffic between you and the proxy but you can access SSL web sites like Gmail through the proxy. If you want all your traffic encrypted then you may want to use VPN.
