What exactly is FoxyProxy?

OK, so I'm new to this. What exactly is FoxyProxy?

When enabled in Firefox nothing loads so I completely disabled FoxyProxy & all is well, or is it?

seconded

Yeah, I've read what Wiki says about proxies, but still have no idea of what use I can make of FoxyProxy.

At the moment it is installed but disabled.

Might I suggest a sticky FAQ that clues in the clueless?

Thanks,

Have you read the resources

Have you read the resources at http://foxyproxy.mozdev.org/help.html?
Have you read http://foxyproxy.mozdev.org (the home page?) It says:

what is foxyproxy?

FoxyProxy is a free, open-source advanced proxy management tool that completely replaces Firefox's limited proxying capabilities.

FoxyProxy automatically switches an internet connection across one or more proxy servers based on URL patterns. Put simply, FoxyProxy automates the manual process of editing Firefox's Connection Settings dialog. Proxy server switching occurs based on the loading URL and the switching rules you define. Animated icons show you when a proxy is in use. Advanced logging shows you which proxies were used and when. QuickAdd makes it a snap to create new URL patterns on-the-fly. FoxyProxy is fully compatible with Portable Firefox, has better support for PAC files than Firefox itself, and is translated into more than 25 languages.

Hi, You can add a new proxy

Hi,

You can add a new proxy by, um, clicking the "Add New Proxy" button in FoxyProxy. You only need the IP address (or hostname, like boo.foo.com) and port.
