I've installed the FoxyProxy Video Utility (Windows 32-bit: http://foxyproxy.mozdev.org/proxyservice/FoxyProxySetup.msi) and received a Virus/Spyware alert from Sophos that Troj/NetVQ-Gen has been detected. More information on Troj/NetVQ-Gen can be found at http://www.sophos.com/security/analyses/viruses-and-spyware/trojnetvqgen...
I would appreciate more information on this phenomenon. Thanks!

Hi,
Would it be possible to get more information about when the warning was raised? Was it raised during the install process, after the install process had completed, or on the first launch of the utility? We know it may not be possible to get these answers, but they would help. We aree going to attempt to duplicate the scenario in a test environment using the free trial of Sophos Anti-Virus SBE 2.5.
Thanks,

Hi,
I believe the warning appeared first during or right after the installation process. Actually I had a number of warnings.
After I removed the items identified as "Troj/NetVQ-Gen" I received a new warning when I started the FoxyProxy Video Utility. As I was a bit concerned I attemted to deinstall the FoxyProxy Video Utility. However, this was apparently not possible because some DLLs might have gone missing during the Sophos clean-up process.
Am I the only user who is experiencing this concerning difficulty with the FoxyProxy Video Utility?
Thanks for hunting down this problem and keep me updated.

Hi,
There is no malware in the FoxyProxy Video Utility. Sophos is reporting this as a false positive. You can confirm this by running other anti-virus packages against the FoxyProxy Video Utility.
We are working on the problem anyway to try to prevent Sophos from reporting this. I will keep you updating in this thread.

same experience
I installed FoxyProxy Video Utility BEFORE Sophos antivirus. I installed Sophos few days later. Once the Sophos antivirus was installed and the icon appeared in the system tray the notification dialog poped up saying the FPServiceProvider.dll was infected with "Troj/NetVQ-Gen". There were 8 notification like that. The DLL was quarantined by the Sophos.
When I tried to uninstall the FoxyProxy utility it complained some files were busy. The uninstallation failed to complete. I had to uninstall sophos first. Then the uninstallation of the FoxyProxy Utility completed successfully.

I am submitting a report to Sophos so they can update their virus definitions to exclude FoxyProxy. Can you tell me what operating system you're using? They want that information in the report.
