When I try to go to my gmail account with Firefox, I get a "Warning: Unresponsive script" error that indicates a problem with one of foxyproxy's scripts. At the same time I get very high CPU usage and Firefox appears to be locked up until the error dialog appears. Below is the text of the dialog, followed by further system information that may assist in debugging:
"A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now or you can continue to see if the script will complete.
Script: file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/username/Application%20Data/Mozill... -> file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/username/Application%20Data/Mozilla/Firefox/Profiles/9qkllk4f.default/extensions/foxyproxy@eric.h.jung/modules/superadd.js:224"
I have the choice of stopping the script or continuing. If I continue, the CPU/firefox lockup will continue until the same error dialog appears again a short time later.
I'm using Firefox 3.0.8 on windows XP Pro and FoxyProxy 2.8.14. FoxyProxy is set to patterns mode with AutoAdd enabled, a pattern set up to identify blocked pages, and using the default pattern to add the proxy. FoxyProxy is set to send whitelisted url patterns to the proxy, otherwise use the direct internet connection (default). Google and GMail are NOT on the whitelist, so therefore should not be sent through the proxy. The proxy itself is an ssh tunnel using putty, if that makes any difference.
I am also using the Better Gmail 2 extension (version 0.7.3.2) but disabling that extension seems to have no effect on the error.
Any ideas? Do you need further information?
Hi, The problem is AutoAdd.
Hi,
The problem is AutoAdd. I guess you didn't read the warning when you enabled AutoAdd. Disable AutoAdd and the problem will disappear. Here is the notice again:
Please note: AutoAdd affects the time in which a webpage loads. The more complex your pattern and the larger the webpage, the longer AutoAdd takes to process. If you experience significant delays, please disable AutoAdd. You are encouraged to use QuickAdd instead of AutoAdd.
Thank you for the response.
Thank you for the response. I do software development myself so I know how frustrating it is to answer what seems like the same question over and over. I had indeed read the warning when enabling autoadd, I just never made the connection between "experiencing delays" vs an error dialog. In my mind delays just meant longer loading times, so it was a misunderstanding on my part. I apologize if my report caused any undue frustration.
No worries. I guess that
No worries. I guess that means I should change the text of the error dialog. Do you have any suggestions as to what it should say so that's it more clear?
Thanks,
Eric Jung

I think that putting this
I think that putting this solution on the FAQ would be an awesome idea, honestly. Your warning message is fine, but I set that setting so long ago that I don't remember setting it! Going to the FAQ and searching for gmail would've been a quick fix for me.

Hi Probably the wrong
Hi
Probably the wrong section to ask this - but with this, is it possible to have a AutoAdd blacklist that basically will not check certain sites to see if its blocked or not?
Not currently. Why not just
Not currently. Why not just use QuickAdd? You can configure QuickAdd so it doesn't prompt you for anything and, in effect, is the exact same as AutoAdd except for the hotkey you have to press.
