Dear Eric - I downloaded your program foxyproxy-setup.ws to get BBC Iplayer to download content onto the iplayer desktop application and it worked. But it also means that other applications also vnow automatically go via the proxy server when accessing the web - for example itunes now demands the proxy username and password before I can access the store - I only really want that to happen in iplayer. Is there a way to fix that or perhaps just turn it on and off - much like how foxyproxy can be disabled when browsing through firefox? I'm afraid your answer needs to take into account that fact I know very little about computers. Many thanks. Douglas
Dear Douglas, In order to
Dear Douglas,
In order to disable proxy for all applications you need to run foxyproxy-setup.wsf again and select "No" when asked if the proxy should be enabled.
Fixed - thanks
Many thanks - that's resolved the issue.
Best wishes
Douglas
Hi Douglas, Sorry for the
Hi Douglas,
Sorry for the confusion. I thought running the script again was obvious, but then I wrote the script so what is obvious to me isn't obvious to others :)
Do you think it would be more helpful if there are TWO scripts? One to enable and another to disable?
Thanks for your feedback,
Eric
Hi Eric - yes it would be
Hi Eric - yes it would be more helpful. If it's possible it would be good to have an option to turn off the proxy for other applications when you open foxy-proxy from the proxy status indicator at the bottom of the firefox browser. Just a thought, though.
By the way, thanks for developing the application - I'm sure it means a great deal to many expats.
Hi Doug, Thanks for the
Hi Doug,
Thanks for the feedback. I'll work on a separate "Disable" script when I have a moment. Your other request -- "to turn off the proxy for other applications when you open foxy-proxy from the proxy status indicator at the bottom of the firefox browser" isn't really clear. FoxyProxy in the statusbar only applies to Firefox.
