Hi,
first of all thanks for the nice PlugIn. I'm using it in different environments, operation systems and for different occasions and it works very smooth and well.
UPDATE: If you think your proxy is slow please test the network connection speed with speedtest.net before posting the request here. You should make three tests there: 1) your ISP connection WITHOUT proxy. 2) your connection WITH proxy enabled. 3) your ISP connection WITHOUT proxy with the server in the country where the content provider is located.
Currently I'm using it with one of your US Proxys I ordered a couple of days ago. Unfortunately I was only able to watch streams on different sites at the first day of the subscription. Ever since the connection was so slow that connections timed out. Here's some figures I got, using speedtest.net
Your New York based proxy. ISP NOC4Hosts: Ping 313ms, Up: 0,61Mb/s, Down: 0.18Mb/s
No proxy, connecting to same server. My ISP: Ping 127ms, Up: 5,48Mb/s, Down: 0.43Mb/s
Possibly that New York proxy is experiencing some difficulties right now. Might it be possible to move my to another one?
I'm using Firefox running on Linux, relevant ports (80, 443, 1935) are blocked as is the browser referrer, lokal proxy settings are set to the respecitve ones, did I forgot someting?
Thanks for your service and support

Indeed the proxy server in question has been experiencing network connectivity issues during last few days. Everything should be fine now. Can you please let me know if it works now.
Running fine now
Hi proxyservice,
thanks for the quick reply. I now get 3,38 Mb/s down, which seems sufficient for the stream. What would be a good or the standard performance for the New York based server?
Thanks again and bye.
It depends on many factors.
It depends on many factors. I mean all proxies are connected to a high-speed 100Mbit/sec network. The content provider usually has even better connectivity. So in most cases the bottleneck is the user local Internet connection. Your connection is fine. You can stream HD video easily.

No go, again
I would have tested it, but once again, there is Zero connection using the proxy.
Now, this is getting a bit old. It's not like this is free, and money being what it is..

Dear Sir,
3Mbps is quite a good speed actually. You only need 1.5Mbps to stream HD video. I am afraid any proxy will make your network connection slower.

Hello foxyproxy team and a happy new year to everybody, I read that 2Mbps might be okay but I'm only achieving best case with the proxy on : 1.05 Mbps / 0.14 Mbps / ping 1122ms on speedtest.net to the Cincinnati Server. Very slow connection - too slow to stream video
Hi, username pp-bothelect
I have run speedtest and get 8.5Mbps without proxy. I only get 0.7Mbps with foxy proxy.
Ping is about 700ms and upload is 0.23Mbps.
Actually 0.7 is about the fastest I have got as the other day it was only half that speed.
I have managed to set up a proxy on my mum's pc in UK to compare and she has a 10Mbps connection and I can't a faster connection (than around 0.7Mbps) so maybe there is something wrong with my connection/router/pc that is stopping proxies running any quicker? I have tried switching off all firewalls.
Any help would be greatfully recieved. Obviously if I can't get a faster speed then I will have to cancel the foxy service.
Thanks
update: I changed the server from maidenhead to london and I got over 3meg with speed test. I guess I need to see what I can get to a Singapore server where I am located?
Update: Since I changed the server on speednet it now streams perfectly, full screen! I'll keep you posted if it remains this way....
Sounds like you got it

Yes looks that way, thanks Eric.
BTW when I connect to a proxy that I set up myself that has a 10meg download connection I can only get about 0.5meg through the proxy.
Is this because the proxy uses the upload speed and not the download speed?

Downloads are specifically limited so as to not affect other people using the same proxy. Non-downloads utilize the full bandwidth potential.

Thanks Eric but that is not what I meant.
Using your proxy it streams fine now, as I am getting around 3meg download connection.
What I am referring to is a proxy I have set up on a pc in the UK to compare. I am using apache as per your helpful instructions. The PC in the UK has around a 10 meg (dowload) connection but I only get about 0.5 meg through the proxy (using speedtest).
I wondered if this is because it is dependant on the UK PC upload speed (which is only 0.7 meg) and not download speed?
Terribly slow again
Hi, is there something wrong with the UK server today? Download connection speed has dropped right back down to 0.5meg for last 6 hours I have been checking it. Can't stream a thing. Any ideas why?

I have transfered your subscription to a different server in the UK. You will receive a notification with new proxy details shortly. Please let me know if it is better. That new server was added recently so there are only few customers using it at the moment.

Thanks but unfortunately this hasn't helped. I have contacted my service providers and they are seeing if there is anything they can do. Tracreroute shows I have a ridiculous amount of hops with numerous delays. It was ok last week, so very frustrated!

UK Proxy is slow
Hello,
Love this service, but the last few days the proxy has been to slow for BBC iPlayer to work. It keeps timing out and runs it's own speed test showing the proxy to be too slow and erratic.
I also ran the 3 tests as you requested in this thread. When the test is run with the proxy off things are fine, but things slow WAY down with the proxy enabled.
The proxy is: 93.89.***.***:44***
Thanks for your help!

Extremely slow
Hello,
I have a newly created subscription (S-3R035082CR445790C), and thus far, my service has been unusable. A speed test using my normal ISP shows the following:
15.56/9.45 using speedtest.net
Using the proxy, I am unable to even load the speed test site fully, or when it does, it will not even begin to run. For some reason, it recommends using the FL site rather than one closer to where I'm at (Vancouver, WA). Also, half the time I get a page saying that I could not connect to the proxy server.
This is extremely frustrating. I have used your service before and never had a problem with it. I would like to continue to use this service, however I am unsure how this will be possible if it's unreliable.
This seems to be working
This seems to be working much better now :)
Not usable currently
I can't even access speedtest.net with the proxy server enabled. It just times out. Accessing other pages is a trial in patience.
When I ping the proxy server, I get back pings of 378ms or the pings drop.
Without the proxy server enabled, I receive 6/6 down and up.
My id is S-2SG9357377590053H.
What are your ping and
What are your ping and speedtest to a test server in Beijing without the proxy enabled?
Slow streaming via FoxyProxy
For some months, I have been happily downloading videos from the BBC, using FoxyProxy Standard and the FoxyProxy Video Utility, and a paid FoxyProxy server in the UK. However, my connection didn’t seem fast enough for streaming video: I’d get the stream, but with more pausing than playing. Using the lower-bandwidth option offered for some recorded programmes didn’t help much, if at all.
So I upgraded my ADSL account with my local (South African) ISP from 512k to 4G. As I expected, this improved downloads and browsing. However, it didn’t make any difference to the BBC streaming via FoxyProxy.
Then I experimented with a BBC site that streams video clips without restriction. (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/video_and_audio/). This enabled me to compare performance with and without FoxyProxy. There the clips came through very smoothly without FoxyProxy, but when I switched to FoxyProxy (with or without the Video Utility), the hesitation / buffering / pausing immediately occurred.
Now I see that the same intermittency happens (with FoxyProxy, but not without) even with YouTube. The YouTube Video Info window shows, via FoxyProxy, a ‘streaming HTTP’ rate of below 300 and, with my default connection, around 1000.
I’m puzzled, mainly because I’m non-technical, but also because, to me, the test figures below look generally usable and consistent (with and without FoxyProxy) – except the BBC diagnostics test with FoxyProxy AND the Video Utility. I repeated this last test because it was the most striking result, and the figures were similar. Is this a problem with the FoxyProxy server? Is it something to do with shaping by my ISP? (Perhaps my ISP doesn’t ‘realise’, when I connect to your proxy server, that I need video streaming bandwidth.) Most important, is there a solution?
Technical details:
My server is pp-batchscore

Hello Paul, It appears
Hello Paul,
It appears that your results with the proxy and without to a test server in the UK (or BBC Diagnostic) are quite similar. Generally speaking a proxy always reduces the connection perfomance but in this case you should not have seen big difference. It is possible that your ISP is using some shaping techniques which cause the problem. Please write to support@leahscape.com and we will try to find a solution (if there is any).
I was switched to an LA server thats unusably slow!
Hi FoxyProxy Support team,
Username: pp-flierkiwi
My connection speed has gone down to 0.1Mbps down, 0.04Mbps up... http://www.speedtest.net/result/1014226831.png
Needless to say, this is an unusable network speed, so I need help. My current Speed from my ISP is 3.5Mbps down, 0.8Mbps up. SpeedTest.net says that I'm on an LA server now, when originally it showed that I was on a NY server. Is there anyway to put me back on a server in the east-coast because having a 926ms ping to LA, just sucks!
Please help me!
thanks,

Hi FoxyProxy support,
First of all, I'm very happy using your UK service, however, lately speed results for the paid service have been rather unsatisfactory (< 24kbps). My username is pp-floorflick. Could you please look into this problem and transfer my account to another server? I did try the speedtest.net service BTW.
Kind regards

Netflix Streaming Issue
Hi Guys,
Netflix is the whole reason I use the service which has been great until this week. The speedtest comes up fine (4.85 Meg) with the proxy and 18 without. I have spoken to Netflix who say they are only showing a streaming rate of about 0.5 mg, they think the problem lies in the connection between my ISP and them and suggested I contact them for a fix. I did not mention using a proxy server (figured that would just complicate things) and hope that you could suggest a way I can fix this problem. Thankyou for any help you can provide.
Fixed, please try again.
Fixed, please try again. Write us to support@getfoxyproxy.org if the problem persists.
Thanks for trying, problem
Thanks for trying, problem still the same. Speedtest shows connection at 5.13 Meg (more than sufficient). Netflix runs for 10 mins and then needs to re buffer (buffering takes 5 mins a time). Would appreciate any help or ideas.
Thanks
Problem Fixed
Thank you very much for looking into this for me, it now seems to be working great. I really appreciate it.
