Settings dialog doesn't work on Firefox 4.0 beta (7) on XP

Hi,

I've been running FoxyProxy Plus for almost a year on my laptop on Firefox 3.x and it was working wonderfully. I've been test driving Firefox 4.0 beta on my desktop (I don't need FoxyProxy on that box) for a while and with beta 7 I thought it was finally good enough to install on the laptop.

The first problem I ran into was that Firefox crashed on startup whenever the FoxyProxy extension was enabled. So I went with a clean profile (uninstalled all Firefox stuff and made sure the Mozilla profiles folder was deleted and did what should have been a fresh install - reinstalling each extension from scratch). That took care of the crashing problem, but once FF starts up, I tried to go to the FoxyProxy settings dialog and, while the window opens, nothing seems to do anything. Here's a list of things I see wrong:

  • There are no proxies listed (not even "Default").
  • When I press the "Add new proxy" button it does absolutely nothing
  • The "Select Mode" drop down box is empty and very tiny.
  • Almost all buttons and menu options appear to do nothing (no op)
  • After going through pretty much every tab and menu item the only items that appeared to do anything at all are the Help | About menu item, the File | close menu item, the Close button, and the License Info button
  • The firefox Tools | FoxyProxy Plus menu item does nothing, and appears to have an empty submenu
  • The FoxyProxy button that usually appears in the lower right of the Firefox window does not appear

Just for completeness I also tried using the FoxyProxy standard edition and got the same results.

Any idea what I could be doing wrong, or ways to address this issue?

Thanks!

Hello, At the moment

Hello,

At the moment FoxyProxy Plus only supports 4.0b6. Eric's been working on adding support for the newer FF lately.

Sorry if I reported an issue

Sorry if I reported an issue that was already known. I guess I just assumed it was supposed to work since the mozilla addon website said the standard version supports up through 4.0b8pre and extrapolated that the plus version should work with that too. It might make things less confusing if the version compatability notes on the mozilla addon site were changed until it truly supports that version.

FoxyProxy Plus is not

FoxyProxy Plus is not available on the Mozilla add-on website, that's why it says nothing about Plus supporting 4.0b8

On the other hand when Firefox 4.0b6 prompts for update to the latest beta it clearly says that FoxyProxy Plus is not supported.

I know the plus version is

I know the plus version is not hosted there, but if you reread what I wrote you'll notice that when the plus version did not work, I uninstalled it and tried the standard version and got the same results, meaning the standard version is broken on 4.0b7 as well, despite saying its compatible up through 4.0bpre8.

I'm working on beta 7

I'm working on beta 7 compatibility for all FoxyProxy editions.
