Seperate proxy for DNS

I used to use Squid as a http proxy, and I tunneled all my traffic over ssh to my squid proxy.

Since that doesn't proxy DNS activity, I decided to switch to socks. I still tunnel my socks proxy traffic and want to continue doing so, but I find it a lot slower than squid.

It would be great if I could choose two proxies. One for DNS and one for actual web traffic. That way I could use the socks for DNS and still use squid for the rest.

Great work so far, hope you consider my request!

Hi,

You can now do this with FoxyProxy Standard version 2.16, FoxyProxy Basic 1.3, and FoxyProxy Plus 3.3. Create a SOCKS proxy in FoxyProxy, check "Use this proxy for all DNS lookups" [screenshot], and don't give it any whitelist patterns.

Create another proxy in FoxyProxy for your squid server with whiatever whitelist patterns you'd like (or "*" (without quotes) for all).

Thanks,
Eric
