Hi There,
I just came across HLHJ's post about this (http://z9.invisionfree.com/foxyproxy/index.php?showtopic=663), but it was on the old forums, so presumably didn't have a response because of that. I too have am at a university that implements a proxy by appending a name to the site's domain name. For example, going to http://www.example.com/testpage would get forwarded to http://www.example.com.my.univ.edu/testpage. The Redirector add-on can do this, but wondering if foxyproxy is capable, as i'd rather have it in a list of proxies than a bit of a hack.
thanks,
allie
why?
Hi,
HLHJ's post didn't get a reply because he literally posted his message a few seconds before I closed the old forums :)
Can you explain why you'd like FoxyProxy to do redirection when, as you've discovered, the Redirector addon for Firefox does precisely what you need? Do you use server-side proxies in addition to this EZProxy redirector?
Best regards,
Eric
Hi Eric, Thanks for your
Hi Eric,
Thanks for your reply. Yep - I also use other auto-configured (server-side?) proxies. But, in the end, not a huge deal - happy to use redirector. Just thought it'd be nice to have everything related to proxies in one place.
Thanks,
Allie
OK, well I'll consider
OK, well I'll consider adding it after I've gotten a few other features into FoxyProxy that people have been asking for.
No problem eric - thanks.
No problem eric - thanks. As I said, no big deal - probably shouldn't be at the top of your list, as it isn't.
Redirector
Using Redirector works; for example, for the Oxford English Dictionary, use:
Include pattern: http://*.oed.com*
Exclude pattern: http://*.oed.com.ezproxy.[rest of name of university servers]*
Redirect to: http://$1.oed.com.ezproxy.[rest of name of university servers]$2)
It is a tad tedious to input all three fields for each URL you want to redirect.
Anyone else with this problem might try the appropriate LibX Firefox plugin:
http://www.libx.org/
I'm afraid I don't yet know of a work-around that works for those who don't use Firefox.
URL related
I want to see the url & variables being constructed behind the
scenes to a website I am logging to.
Can that be achieved by doing logging enable?
The website uses java script calls to reset the url displayed in
the browser.
Help is appreciated.
