You can already customize what FoxyProxy displays on the status bar. Open FoxyProxy and click on the "Global Settings" tab. In the Indicators section, uncheck/check "Show icon on statusbar" and "Show mode (text) on statusbar" appropriately.

The problem is:
If I turn ON the mode indicator (e.g. direct)
it put FoxyProxy: in front of it!
It should NOT put FoxyProxy: in front of it - way too wide!
Just say Direct.
Even better, put it right against the foxy icon - no divider to waste space.
hi, right now the best you can do is choose between icon only or icon and text (including "FoxyProxy"). The setting is in FoxyProxy's Options Dialog on the Global Settings tab ("Show icon on statusbar" and "Show mode (text) on statusbar".
There is not much space in status-bar, and I haven't found any way to make it multi-line. And FoxyProxy's section takes the most space of it! I suppose either one of the following solutions:
1. Allow user to turn on "compact" mode, that removes the separator between FP icon and FP label and removes "FoxyProxy: " prefix from the label. That won't affect usability in any way, since the label will be followed by the FP icon and will be quite clear what it means.
2. Or just make the FP icon display a tooltip when the label is turned off. It shouldn't be hard - most of my FF extensions that utilize statusbar are doing that. I think the tooltip should contain the following info, on several lines:
Current mode: [Using templates / Using "My-Proxy-Name" for all / Using default for all / Disabled]
Current proxy: ["My-Proxy-Name" / Default]
Current template: "Template-name"
The last two lines should correspond to the current tab ans should be displayed only if "using templates" mode is on. I think that should be even better than the first solution, since most of users don't need to see that info all the time, and when they need to, they just have to move mouse slightly to see it. By the way, the two proposed solutions ain't mutually exclusive by any means!
