After upgrading to Firefox 2.0.0.17 (US English, Windows 2000), I find Firefox crashing every time I close the program. I get the familiar simple dialog from Windows telling me that Firefox "has generated an error and will be closed by Windows". I have many add-ons in my profile, but after disabling them all I have found that the error depends only on FoxyProxy being enabled. I hope that this can be fixed with an update soon.

3.0.2 not affected
On a freshly created profile, I notice 2.0.0.17 crashing immediately on startup (as FoxyProxy asks me whether to configure for Tor, or if I override that by setting the firstrun preference, just after the browser window has appeared). 3.0.2 is not affected, but I want to stay on 2 while I wait for other add-ons to be updated.
I have a problem with
I have a problem with 2.0.0.17 too, but at start.
I had to desactivate foxyproxy or firefox won't start. (crash immediatly)
Hi. My updated to 2.0.0.17
Hi. My updated to 2.0.0.17 Firefox also crash on startup. After disabling all add-ons and re-enable one by one, the problem comes from FoxyProxy.
Hope it can be fixed soon :)
Thanks.
Firefox updated to 2.0.0.17
Firefox updated to 2.0.0.17 and with foxy proxy 2.8.5 it crashes when clicking on a bookmark in my bookmark toolbar.
If I enter an url it crashes almost randomly during navigation...
Disabling foxyProxy everithing works fine....
2.0.0.17
Just wanted to add that I am also experiencing this bug with firefox 2.0.0.17 on Windows XP. I get crashes when closing firefox and when checking for updates to add-ons, if and only if foxyproxy is enabled.
Like the OP, after upgrading
Like the OP, after upgrading to 2.0.0.17 Exiting or Restarting Fx results in a Application Error
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Application Error

Faulting application firefox.exe, version 1.8.20080.17373, faulting module firefox.exe, version 1.8.20080.17373, fault address 0x004828ff.
Troubleshooting narrowed it down to FoxyProxy as the cause. With FoxyProxy disabled no error occurs. During troubleshooting I did experience a couple of application errors while restarting. After a second restart Fx would come backup.
Edit: forgot to add FoxyProxy version: 2.8.5
Firefox 2.0.0.17 crashes when accessing HTTPS page
After upgrading to 2.0.0.17, it keeps crashing when accessing an HTTPS page.
This issue disappears when FoxyProxy (version 2.8.5) is disabled.
Hope someone find a workaround... it's the extension I use the most.
Firefox 2.0.0.17 crashes on https-sites
I have the same problem as Chris.
I use Firefox 2.0.0.17 with FoxyProxy 2.8.5.
At first I thought it is a problem with Firefox 2.0.0.17 since this problem did not occur with the previous Firefox build.

After ugrading FF to 2.0.0.17 I get repeated crashes, easily re-produceable by going to Help>Check for Updates...
I have 23 Add-Ons, and the problem goes away if I disable FoxyProxy (in the Add-Ons menu, not the "Completely disable FoxyProxy" option).
I have FoxyProxy 2.8.5 running on XP SP2
confirmed as well on linux.

I'm working on a fix. I didn't catch this because all of my testing has been on Firefox 3.x.

The immediate solution is to upgrade to Firefox 3.x. FoxyProxy works fine with Firefox 3.x. I'll continue looking at a solution for Firefox 2.x.

You can downgrade Firefox
You can downgrade Firefox 2.0.0.17 to 2.0.0.16 here:
http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/
But if you can upgrade to Firefox 3.x, you'd be better off.
I'm still working with Mozilla on a fix, but since this is a bug with FoxyProxy *and* Firefox, it might require another Firefox release (2.0.0.18) before the fix works.
downgrading ff not recommended, upgrading impossible...
hi... upgrading to 2.0.0.17 is deemed important to fix some security bugs, and upgrading to 3.x is impossible for a number of people, including me, who have debian etch machines as their desktop (and ff 3.x wants very much newer libs, so there is _NO_ chance to get it to run on etch).
ssl disabled, too!
hi, i forgot to say that while foxyproxy (2.8.5) is active, any attempt to go to an SSL enabled site (eg. bugzilla.mozilla.org) makes ff hang indefinitely, already at the dns phase (it says "looking up bugzilla.mozilla.org" in the status bar, and then doesn't do anything)
This problem if fixed with
This problem is fixed with FoxyProxy 2.8.6. Please upgrade FoxyProxy. Get it here: http://foxyproxy.mozdev.org/downloads.html

How could I fix foxy proxy from being disabled? I went in the control panel and turned it back on as recommended but it keeps turning back off again.
FoxyProxy is not disabled.
FoxyProxy is not disabled. There is no FoxyProxy setting in Control Panel.
