FF Beta 9 kills FP again.

Well, now that the beta is out (yes the candidate build is released). FoxyProxy is not working once more. All added proxy settings are gone (no proxy in list anymore), add proxy button not working and all Global settings are not working either. Everything is just kind of dead. No access to any of the options or setup.

Yep! happend due to a more strict JS-Engine

Bugzilla-entry https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=622321
describes the why/how.
In short: With FF 4 Mozilla delivers a 100% ES5 compatible JS-engine.
To reach this standard some, until now ignored, wrong coding-mechanisms throw an error instead of a warning.
FP 2.22.4 has at least two instances of these.
When and and if the chief (Eric Jung) has time to fix this, we don't know, but I hope soon.

Same here again ;-)

Too bad since Foxyproxy is for me one of the most important updates and I first was so happy that this time no addon complaint :-P

But no problem because these days I am in my home country where I don't need it so urgently, but for my company I go to a country with a strong censorship every few weeks. Hope it can be fixed until then but I could also just go back to the Beta 8, so no problem at all :-)

+1

Please add my sincere interest in seeing FoxyProxy support Firefox 4.0b9 (and beyond) as soon as possible. I eagerly upgraded from b8 to b9 last week and my most important add-on stopped working. After researching it on this forum, I dropped back to Firefox 4.0b8, but would like to move to the latest beta soon.

Thanks for your continued support of this critical and useful add-on.

I did the same thing and is wanting the same thing as Dave is.

Hello, We are going to add

Hello,

How soon? In a day? In a few

How soon? In a day? In a few days? Or in a week?
11 days have passed since it stopped working and the fixed version is still not out.

Stop Whining

This software is provided to you free of cost, therefore you have no right whatsoever to demand anything from the developer

I am not whining

I don't whine and I don't demand anything. I'm just quite impatient and would like to know a more concrete terms, since it affects my decision: whether I will or I won't fall back to the old and compatible build. If it's a matter of a few days - I wouldn't even bother myself reverting to the old build, but I can't wait a week to get proxy working again.

I mean - it depends on whether the devs just noticed the problem and started investigating some workaround to solve it, or they have almost finished fixing the issue and the compatible version will come out quite soon.

Guys, please be patient,

Guys, please be patient, Eric (the developer) has been working on the solution for a quite long, as soon as it's ready it wll be released.

New FoxyProxy Standard

New FoxyProxy Standard 2.22.5 and Basic 1.8.5 released last night. Please upgrade if you need FF 4 beta 9 support.

Works fine on Fx4.0b10pre

Thanks for your work. Tested on Fx 4.0 b10pre as of Jan 20. Found no regressions so far.

THANKS!

Thank you very much, Eric and company! FoxyProxy Standard 2.22.5 works great with both Firefox 4 Beta 8 and Beta 9. I really appreciate the efforts.

Now off to see what /other/ extensions got bitten by the latest b9 JS belt-tightening. :-)
