A side bar would be nice since adding/editing some patterns is kinda slow while navigating, it also helps switching

That's not a bad idea. Thanks for the suggestion. What would be in the sidebar? Just the patterns?
By the way, have you tried QuickAdd (Alt-F2) to quickly add patterns while navigating? You have to enable it first in the QuickAdd Tab.
