I'm seeing the following error at the console when launching Firefox with FoxyProxy enabled:
observe: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80040111 (NS_ERROR_NOT_AVAILABLE) [nsIAlertsService.showAlertNotification]" nsresult: "0x80040111 (NS_ERROR_NOT_AVAILABLE)" location: "JS frame :: file:///[profile directory]/extensions/foxyproxy@eric.h.jung/components/foxyproxy.js :: anonymous :: line 1090" data: no]
Also at startup, URLs are not being routed through the patterns (my patterns are set such that all requests are sent through through privoxy running on port 8118). I have to manually select "Use proxies based on their pre-defined patterns and priorities" in order for the patterns to take effect. After that, FoxyProxy seems to run fine.
Hi, Which version of
Hi,
Which version of FoxyProxy are you using, and on what operating system?
Thanks,
Eric
Firefox 3.0.4 on MacOSX 10.5.5 with FoxyProxy 2.8.9
Sorry for not including these details in the initial message.
Thanks. I can fix the first
Thanks. I can fix the first problem, but the 2nd "problem" isn't a problem... that's the way FoxyProxy is supposed to work. Patterns aren't observed in "Use Proxy XXXX for All URLs"... hence the phrase all URLs :)
Not fixed in latest FoxyProxy
Hey, Eric. I'm still seeing this error at startup:
observe: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80040111 (NS_ERROR_NOT_AVAILABLE) [nsIAlertsService.showAlertNotification]" nsresult: "0x80040111 (NS_ERROR_NOT_AVAILABLE)" location: "JS frame :: file:///[profile directory]/extensions/foxyproxy@eric.h.jung/components/foxyproxy.js :: anonymous :: line 1090" data: no]Now using Firefox 3.1b2 on MacOSX 10.5.6. Were you able to find a fix for it?
Yes, I thought I fixed that.
Yes, I thought I fixed that. Do you have Growl installed? My guess is that you don't. You don't *have* to have growl installed, but I bet that's why you're seeing this problem, and I still want to fix it. Can you please let me know if you have Growl installed or not?
thanks,
eric
Yes, Growl is installed
Actually, I do have Growl installed (version 1.1.4). I get notification from FoxyProxy about successfully reading a .PAC file for one of the defined proxies.
I was able to borrow an OS/X
I was able to borrow an OS/X machine over the holidays and tried FoxyProxy notification with PAC files. It worked fine on that machine (which didn't have growl installed), so I'm not sure why it doesn't work on yours. Perhaps FoxyProxy doesn't work with growl. In any case, I'll fix it in the next version so there's no error...but there also won't be notification, unfortunately, unless you have another suggestion how to be notified about loading a PAC file?
Unfortunately, no suggestions
We've reached the limits of my understanding about the inner workings of Firefox, so I think just removing the error -- even if there is no notification -- would be a good thing to do for now.
Thank you for your efforts.
Latest version fixed the problem
Thank you -- version 2.8.11 fixed the problem. I'm seeing:
Window not available for user message: Loaded PAC for Proxy "Tor"in the console window at launch, but that is to be expected, I think.
Indeed, that is to be
Indeed, that is to be expected. However, you should also see "Queuing message" in the console after "Window not available for user message: ...". So:
1. Do you see that message?
2. Do you see a "popup" somewhere on the screen after the Firefox window appears that looks like this:
(click for larger version - look in lower right)
It should be in the lower-right of Firefox, but could possible be elsewhere, even the desktop (unfortunately).
"Yes" to both questions
Yes -- I see the queuing message and the small pop-up in the lower right of the window when the Firefox window does appear.
Thanks!
Thanks!
