change the default behavior of single click on the task bar

I find my self time and time again double clicking on the little task bar at the bottom of the window only to open 2 instances of the options panel. I find that most if not all of my plugins that have options open after clicking the bottom bar are a double click and not a single.
Personal preference but perhaps there are others out there like me.

Which OS are you using? I"m not able to open two options dialogs on Linux....even with double-click.

It appears I am wasting your time as I have no idea how I used to do that in the past but it is not doing it anymore. I thought I remembered it being an annoyance in the past. Disregard.
