BBC iPlayer

My U.K. Proxy is down for repairs but still seems to Work, Anyhow this is the guide I've been Going to
BBC iPlayer with FoxyProxy If you need screen-shots or the patterns listed below just don't work anymore the link above may have already been able to solve the puzzle again. There are two patterns

Pattern 1
Pattern Name: BBC iPlayer episode
URL Pattern: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/*

Pattern 2
Pattern Name: BBC iPlayer Stream
URL Pattern: http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediaselector/4/mtis/stream*

Edit: If you want to download, instead of just streaming A helpful poster points out one more pattern,
Thanks again Tinybilbo.

Pattern 3
Pattern Name: BBC iPlayer Download
URL Pattern: http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediaselector/4/js/download/*

The order of the patterns should not matter. You will still need to find a UK based proxy for it though.
These patterns only work on The BBC iPlayer
Some people say you need a Socks proxy for it to work, I have tested it with Socks & HTTP, It Doesn't Care.

Some other patterns will be listed later on. (someone asked for BBC Sports once, I found patterns that worked & will post them in a few minutes.)

If you're still having problems with BBC iPlayer, please read this.

I can stream from the BBC i Player with no problems but I can't get downloads to work despite adding the pattern suggested above. Does anyone have any other patterns to try or ideas ? Thanks

Hi,

Please read the section of this document labeled, "Want to download videos using the BBC iPlayer Desktop application?" It includes screenshots.

Hi Eric, I'm new to this

Hi Eric,
I'm new to this forum but have already benefited greatly from the pattern info you've provided for BBC iplayer and ITV Player (it's a pleasure to make a donation to support your work).
However, I'm having problems with how to download programs from BBC iPlayer. I downloaded the foxyproxy-setup.wsf file and double-clicked as instructed. However, what came up was a text file containing the script. There was no prompt to enter a proxy.
Do I need some other software to execute the file properly? I'm using Firefox on Windows Vista (32 bit).
Thanks very much for your help.

Hi

Hi indie,

foxyproxy-setup.wsf has been superseded by the FoxyProxy Video Utility. You can get that here.

Thanks,
Eric

Hi Eric,Thanks for replying

Hi Eric,
Thanks for replying so quickly.
I downloaded the file (FoxyProxySetup.exe) and ran it. What looked like a Command Prompt box flashed up for a fraction of a second then disappeared. Nothing else happened. I'm wondering whether it's a problem with it running on Vista? The file looks to have downloaded correctly but I can't get it to run properly. Do you have any other suggestions please? (I have also tried running it as Administrator...same problem).
Thanks a lot.

Just added...
p.s. I just tried running the FoxyProxySetup.exe file using Windows xP on another machine. I'm getting the same thing...a Dos (command prompt) type window appears for a few seconds and then disappears. Nothing else happens. I'm obviously doing something wrong. Please help. Thanks

My guess is that you didn't

My guess is that you didn't download the right version (32-bit or 64-bit) for your OS, or that the download didn't complete successfully.

OK. Thanks for replying

OK. Thanks for replying again so soon.
I guess I'll have to just do without it. I checked my operating system, and it's the 32bit version of Vista. I use Download Manager to download files and the whole file downloaded completely (file size 6.71 MB - (7,046,144 bytes)). I tried disabling Tor, same thing. I tried disabling my virus checkers and firewalls...same thing. I tried running the program as Administrator...same thing.
Thanks anyway. I'm very happy with the fact that I can watch the iPlayer. Keep up the good work!

Hi Eric, I just couldn'

Hi Eric,
I just couldn' leave this alone...so I modified some settings in the Security section of my Internet Settings and was finally able to install the FoxyProxy video utility.
I entered the proxy and port number into the utility (the one that I use to view BBC iPlayer programs), and enabled the utility. But I've now got a different problem...with the Video utility enabled, I cannot get access to the internet at all. Instead I get a message saying that there are connection problems. When I turn the utility off, I get access to the internet again. I tried a USA proxy (for Hulu) and the same thing happens.
Do you have any suggestions about this? Thanks for your help.
Regards
Indie.

Indie, Did you read the

Indie,

Did you read the URGENT message at the bottom of the FoxyProxy Video Utility page? It says:

URGENT: When the FoxyProxy Video Utility is enabled, all URLs must load through a proxy server otherwise they won't load at all! That means you should set FoxyProxy to "Use Proxy XXXX for all URLs" (where XXXX is the name of your proxy)

Hi, I know I must REALLY be

Hi,
I know I must REALLY be getting on your nerves now...but I did read the urgent message at the bottom of the page and I had set it to "Use proxy "BBC iPlayer" for all URL's". But as soon as I enable the video utility (which contains the proxy and port that I use to connect to BBC iPlayer), I lose the internet connection altogether. When I disable the video utility, still using the "BBC iPlayer proxy for all URL's", I can connect again.
I can only think that it's something to do with the proxy I'm using (although it works fine for watching standard BBC iplayer and ITV player programs...I just can't download or watch live programs), or something else in my internet security settings.
I'll just have to play around with it some more to see if I can figure it out.
Thanks for your help.
